About the Department

Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Botany is a full time one year/two year programme that typically offers a deep dive into the world of plants, from their anatomy to ecology. It explores plant diversity, genetics, and their role in ecosystems. With hands-on research and fieldwork, students gain expertise in plant sciences, paving the way for careers in research, conservation, agriculture, and more. It allows for more comprehensive research opportunities, and often includes an internship or thesis component. It is ideal for those seeking a thorough understanding and specialization in Botany.

We emphasize on the understanding of fundamentals of the Plant Sciences. With distinguished faculty members comprising taxonomic experts and experienced academics, we offer a rigorous curriculum that engross as a perfect mixture of theoretical and practical knowledge.

The curriculum is devised to inculcate research culture and environmental awareness among the students.  In addition to teaching through modern techniques, seminars, symposia, workshops, invited lectures and botanical excursions are an integral part of academic programme of the department. Consequently, along with the underlying hypothetical understanding, the students are exposed to realistic aspects through the effervescent laboratory sessions.

Programme Outcomes M.Sc. BOTANY:

  1. To develop critical thinking ability and will apply the knowledge to answer scientific queries and expand comprehension potential.
  2. To demonstrate graduate attributes like core competency, communication skills, reflective thinking, scientific temper, research skills, digital literacy, moral and ethical awareness.
